Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC) website! Our Rocky Mountain region includes Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming and our goal is to advance the work of guidance and college counselors as they help students transition from high school to college – paying particular attention to access and equity for all students.

To the right you will find our most recent newsletter. Please take a few moments to read it as it is full of information you won’t want to miss. (Just click on Spring 2009 Newsletter.)

In it you will find:

  • An extensive calendar of college fairs throughout our region for fall 2009
  • An outline of our finalized Strategic Plan for 2009-2012. (You can also download a PDF of the strategic plan by clicking here.)
  • An important update from our Admissions Practices Committee Chair with modifications to the SPGP that go into effect for fall 2009. Admissions Offices be sure to take note of these upcoming changes!
  • A summary of both our spring conference in Colorado Springs and our annual Colorado Day at the Capitol.
  • A report on our Cynthia Gayles Human Relations Award recipients
  • Much more!

A special thanks to PR Chair, Robin Boren, for all of her terrific work on the newsletter.

To the right, you will also find a call for proposals for NACAC’s President’s Council grants program, which provides funding for professional development, as well as innovative programs that support the college admission process. We submitted several exciting grant applications from our region for the June 1 deadline – the next grant application deadline is February 1, 2010 so please take note. We are working hard to create a dynamic and up-to-date website that is useful for our members and in that effort, have established a new Technology Chair position on the board which will be held by John O’Connor former RMACAC President and counselor in Natrona County Schools in Wyoming. If you have suggestions, or would like to see something on the website that is not currently included, please email John at John_OConnor@ncsd.k12.wy.us we welcome your thoughts!

Did you know about the RMACAC listserv? It's a terrific way to share information with RMACAC membership. Just contact Kasey Urquidez, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Arizona, to either submit information or to get signed up. She and her staff have graciously agreed to host the listserv for RMACAC.

Finally we are always looking for new volunteers for our committees on the board. If you’d like to get involved, just email me at cathy.nabbefeld@coloradoacademy.org and let me know if there’s a committee that’s of special interest to you.

We hope to see you all at the national conference held in Baltimore this year, Sept. 24-26. The RMACAC membership meeting will be held on Thursday September 24th at 4:45 PM.

Thanks… and don’t forget to renew your membership for the 2009-2010 school year! Click “Membership Information” above to do so.

Sincerely,

Cathy Nabbefeld
